Pioneering Wayfinding

We are collaborating with local science researcher Danny Ball, on a pioneering and innovative wayfinding technology which provides extensive coverage.

Wayfinding in the built environment is increasingly challenging and even more so for the visually impaired and hard of sight. Technology can be a vital tool in meeting these challenges. The establishment of a network of monitors and signal links can make a real difference. Danny has developed a brief and technological tools to put this network in place. Alumno will support this coverage with Bluetooth low energy beacons (BLEB’s).

All residents within the Alscot Road area will be able to access the system.

The coverage of the wayfinding network will cover the park, Bermondsey tube station and other local neighbourhood amenity points of interest.

Initially developed for the visually impaired, this technology could provide support for a wide range of people within the vicinity, both residents and visitors. The technology works with a smartphone application.
